I have a florida gar and i am currently in the process of starving him to get him of feeders its been a month and still he wont eat, and doesnt move a whole lot. Are earthworms something anyone has had luck with i feel like i might stunt him by not feeding.

I am new at gars....but mine is new to my tank and the first day took crickets and night crawlers...might try those as mentioned above!
Mine will also eat frozen fresh shrimp. might try this as well.

I got a kind-of solution for him...if you NEVER get him on pellets,then take big Earthworms and cut the head off (or tail) and stuff a few pellets in the worms body so he can get the nutrition from them,and in turn this MIGHT,MIGHT get that gar on pellets,'cause it will taste 'em when he hit's 'em with his Pharyngeal teeth.Good luck
I have tried raw shrimp, crickets, strips of fish flesh and I put some worms in there and he actually bit one but then spit it out. I'm not real clear on the crickets though since he spends most his time on the bottom.
