On a 47 bow front tank, center support breaks. Do you; A- replace it with glass, or B- go rimless?
I’m just nervous about the strength of the tank and if I’ll be cleaning up a huge mess in a couple weeks.

what's the height of the tank? thickness of the glass? I'd personally replace the top trim/brace with a new one.

I've ordered them from my lfs. does it have a manufacture tag on the bottom? you have to look down inside not from underneath usually. do you have a pic of the broken brace? I would replace repair the brace. open euro style tanks have thicker glass than a similar size tank that's braced.

on reef central theres posts about removing the center brace from bow front tanks because it blocks to much light. theres guys who say they've run them without braces for years with no problems. I wouldn't because I think the manufacturer knows better and if they added it that's for a reason.

that seems the common place for them to break. I would remove the brace flush with the front trim, and get a piece of acrylic that is about an inch wider on each side of the brace and use some plastic epoxy and "weld" it to the remaining trim/brace.

Hello. Bow Front is by Aqueon. When I had my center brace break on my 55 I called them and the person there told me to look for a label on the inside of the tank and take a picture of the break and they sent me a check for a replacement tank and then some. Give them a call and see what they say.

I don’t believe they make top plastic frames anymore to be purchased separately. I looked to replace my 150s and was told by several LFS that they can’t be ordered. Ended up calling the manufacturer and they confirmed. Maybe different case for a smaller tank.

Sounds like a plan!
