I could be wrong, but Preds need more maintenance. They eat other fish and that leaves extra fish scales, pcs of fish and this means more work to keep your fish healthy. You can also try to get your pred off live foods and feed market shrimp, but it still leaves a little mess (not compared to beef heart, thats a real mess!!!!)

From what I have heard about Aces (red Tail Barracudas) is that they are pretty hard to get off of live food and do well in schools as they hunt in packs in the wild

Also when feeding live fish you now enter a new world of sickness. You have no Idea how the feeders have been cared for (usually poorly since they are just feeders and farms have thous. of feeders) and most of the time they bring Ich or internal parasites and your fish eat them. Most MFKers (including myself) have a separate quarantine tank and buy feeders to keep them in here as long as you can to try to kill the infections that feeders may have, thus giving your fish a "hopefully healthy diet"
