MY LFS OWNER says electic blue haps are by far the easiest even more than red zebras! Easier than peaococks by far!

I found dragon blood peacocks hard the male just tortured his females i hated them with a passion after that i hate abusive dick males who do not even help out their offspring thats why i always thought south american are way way way easier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

South African, oh wait; were you talking about fish? Perhaps Aulonocara or a tilapiine cichlid.

Was you peacock male the same size as the females?
I had a male peacock once, he got removed as he was hurting the females.
His replacement is a small juvenile that the females have been bossing around. I am hoping he will have some manners, when he gets bigger.
I am guessing that in lake Malawi, dominant males. Get eaten by large predators.
Fast enough that larger females probably mate with more docile specimens. Than what can be cultivated in an aquarium.
My old male, old and bold. Too busy ruling the tank to be on guard. Colorfully noticeable in a lake of camouflaged females. Would have swam into the mouth of a bigger fish, thinking he was patrolling his territory.

The reason your dragon blood peacock was so difficult to work with is that it is a hybrid.
They are nasty fish. Most non-hybrid african mouthbrooders are easy to breed.

Yellow labs are super easy too breed in my experience. Not too aggressive to the females. Dragon bloods like you experienced are super mean to the females. That's why when I bred them I only kept 1 male to 6 females with lots of small caves so the male can't go after them.
