I have become interested in the dwarf pikes lately. There is not much information on specific species of dwarf pikes ,but a lot of info on pike cichlids as a whole. I guess my question would be which dwarf pike is right for my tank?
I have a 75 gallon with floating plants (frog bit), a lot of wood, a few rocks, and a black sand bottom. I plan to plant a few larger plants in the tank as well. The tank is currently fish-less and will be that way for a while. From what I understand these cover-filled conditions are ideal for a dwarf pike.
I had planned to get two angelfish, a group of sword tails, school of emperor tetra(or any medium sized tetra), group of cory cats, and then a pair of rams. I like this set-up and I am very familiar with all of these fish having kept a tank like this for a few years in the past. I however would love to try the dwarf pikes and am willing to change my stocking plan if they are not compatible with any dwarf pikes.
The species I was looking at was Crenicichla regani as it seems to be peaceful according to what I read. I would like two , but I am not trying to breed them or anything.
