Hi All,

I'm looking for a recommendation on fish to keep with Eastern Dollar sunfish (Lepomis marginatus). I have 120 gallon planted tank that has been up and running for four months now. I plan on getting six Eastern Dollars that will be about quarter size.

Thank you.

Orangespotted sunfish would be good. The blue and red spotted sunfish are good too. Try to stay away from the really big guys like the bluegills and greens. Longears might work but there's a chance the longears will bully the dollars into a corner.

Dollar Sunfish are aggressive and need tank mates that are a little larger and tough like Creek Chubs or Fallfish, Common and Striped Shiners (Luxiilus sp) Northern or Southern Studminnows, Large Madtoms (stonecats, and any madtom that gets over 5 inches long). Redspotted and Northern Longear sunnies are a good match, but I would not put Orange spotted, Bantam or Bluespotted sunnies in as they would get Bullied.
