Okay. In my last thread, coura suggested breeding ACFs for my project, but I'm not really interested much in amphibians. So I'm looking for species that I could breed instead. I'm looking for something easy and that can breed by April (when the project is due), so I have to either be able to simulate the breeding season or choose a species that can breed during the winter. Price is a factor, as I need them relatively cheap. I mean it doesnt have to be like $20 for a pair, but I'm not going out and buying a leucinic ball python for upwards of $800 either.

Snakes are my first choice. The species I'm considering:
- Garter Snake
- Corn Snake
- Cali Kingsnake

Lizards are my second.
- Bahaman Anole
- Green Anole
- Collared Lizard
- Leopard Gecko
- Bearded Dragon
- Jackson's Chameleons (by my dad's request)

Fish are my third. If I have to do fish, I want something OTHER than guppies or goldfish. Freshwater only, too, btw.
- Platies
- Angels
- Japanese Dragonfish
- maybe comet or shubunkin goldies

At the moment, I have one 10 gal available, but getting a new tank shouldn't be too difficult, depending on how much bigger/more expensive it is.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know what species of snakes are easy to breed but for lizards, leopard geckos, house geckos are pretty easy. And as for fish, nothing beats convict cichilds. I'm always trying to get rid of them. You want some?

Well that depends. How big of a tank do they need and can you get them to NJ in a few weeks?

But again, I'm more interested in herps.

You can keep a convict cichlid pair in a 29 gallon aquarium.

Thank you, but I think I'd like to stick to herps. Still, nice to know for the future ^^

Snakes are my first choice. The species I'm considering: (all good:D
- Garter Snake(live bearing so extra easy;)
- Corn Snake
- Cali Kingsnake

Lizards are my second.
- Bahaman Anole-Most easy of anoles to breed
- Green Anole not so easy
- Collared Lizard-good but wouldnt put my money on it
- Leopard Gecko Yes
- Bearded Dragon Yes but will take you lots of space and time
- Jackson's Chameleons (by my dad's request) Seriously dont mess with them:grinno:

Fish are my third. If I have to do fish, I want something OTHER than guppies or goldfish. Freshwater only, too, btw.
- Platies very good
- Angels more dificult
- Japanese Dragonfish dont know:confused:
- maybe comet or shubunkin goldies more hard than angels in a aquarium, unless you have a pond;)

In the fish realm you could try a selective breeding program:D Gupis and platys would be super easy. Breed for some trait you like:) If I were you since wild tipe gupys and platys are getting hard to get, I would try some reverse breeding back to the original caracteristics. If you ask me wild platys and gupis are really pretty:D much better than fancy tipes(but they are also beautifull in their own rigth)

Jeox, here's a pic http://www.tropicalfishfinder.co.uk/dbimages/dragon goby2(1).jpg

Horiyoshi, I did. I just picked up a nice breeding pair. What do you mean feed them off? Feed the offspring to a bigger herp? No way! Absolutely not! I don't have the heart to feed pinkies, nevermind lizards i raised from birth! i plan to donate one or two to my school then sell the rest
