So i am setting up tank dedicated to get some mouth brooders to bread. I am thinking P. Saulosi but i am not positive if i am getting them. Do you think that these fish are easy to breed? or what are your opinions to get? thanks
Pseudotropheus saulosi is a great fish and relativly easy to breed , allthough i have found them on the aggresive side , just start out with small group , males will turn blue females stay yellow , allthough it is known for female to take on male colouration at times , theese happen to be the first africans i bred ,many many years ago
Easiest to breed would be the yellow labs.Saulosi are great in larger groups.I had 5 m 12f that I just gave to a friend yesterday. The males can play rough with the girls and each other.
Try something that's not blue or yellow, like red zebras for example (even though labs would be fine, with other species you'll have more color variation in the tank).
that is exactly what i am llooking up right now...i know red zebras are on the aggresive side and then peacocks are on the less aggressive side and i feel the P. saulosi are in the middle. Does anyone have experience with others such as red zebras or peacocks(probaly not)?
