I have 3 RBP's (I wanna say their maybe 3-4 inches) in a 75 gallon tank...When I 1st purchased them I gave them feeder fish (I know I shouldn't have, but it was only once) since I put them in the 75 gallon tank, I've been feeding them shrimp and they respond well to it. I recently purchased some Hikari Pellets for them and they haven't eaten any of them. My questions are

1) Is there any easy ways to switch over their diet or a timeframe on when I should try to giver it to them?
2) When I feed them the shrimp shall I place the pellets in there and let in stay in the water so they'll get familiar with them??

I've noticed they go over to the pellets but they don't eat them at all...
Thanks for your help in advance.

They will not starve themselves, so just let em get hungry and they will start eating the pellets for you. Try feeding the pellets every 2-3 days until they get hungry enough and take them.

When you say "let them get hungry" you basically mean cut back how often I feed them correct? I fed them shrimp this morning and they ate it, so should I feed them tonight or just wait until tomorrow and try again with the pellets?

Starve them, dont feed anything for a couple of days and then every day try feeding nothing but pellets.
I find it easiest with sinking pellets and just dropping in a few at a time in front of them because they are sometimes hesitant to come up top for them.

They are young enough that they will go for them so just be patient and they'll be on a staple of pellets in no time

sounds like a plan, thanks for your help!! :headbang2

Howdy,

Just keep in mind that starving a school of Ps can also lead to cannibalism, especially when they're as young as yours ...
