I rescued a peacock bass of unknown type thats about 14". He was in poor shape when I got him. His color was gray with black blotchs & missing scales. Looked liked a jacked up tilapia, it was sad. I've had him now for about a week & half, he's started eating now, but eats dry pellets only. He'll strike @ the scad, smelts, & market shrimp but spits them out. Is this normal, or will he come around to it eventully? To be honest, I never wanted it, but he was part of the pkge deal. He grown on me now though and is starting to turn yellowish slightly green with 3 vertical lines and red fins on the bottom. He's kinda an ass now.

If he is eating pellets thats a great thing! Most bass are hard to get pellet trained. Keep feeding it pellets. Try some massivore delight pellets!

Ok, seems like I lucked out with feeding. Wish I could post pics. Keeps telling me I need permision or need to be signed in. mods don't know anything about it, but this is not the first time this has happened. I think it's this stupid phone. I'll try posting pics from my galaxy pad when I go home today. Thanx for u feedback. I never wanted this peacock bass, but now I think i'm gonna build another aquarium so I can get a small school of them.

Cool, looks like I can post pictures with my galaxy pad. It doesn't take good pictures though.

Thanx, I wanna build another one. I wanna build one 72"wx40"dx28"h, with a built in sump filter in tank that's about 12"w. That aquarium would actully have only about 57.50" of usable interior space. I wanna make it a species only aquarium for a small school of bass. I may just build another 430gal like the one I already have. I really want to experiment with that built in sump though. We'll see.

Forget the idea of of getting a small school of peacock bass into the aquarium planned above. It turns out that just two of these beast full sized would need a aquarium as large as my current one @ 430 gal. Combine that with my silver aro, two achara catfish, black ghost knifefish, & lima shovelnose cf i'd be over stocked! I think I maybe max out already adding 1 mono peacock bass to my current stock. That's why I don't like to take fish in on a whim without doing research.
