Puffers are a popular food in parts of the world. There are certain parts of the puffer that are toxic to eat and you need to know how to cut and eat it.

ISn't it very hard to seperate those parts, and you're never 100% sure it's safe?
Thats what I've always been told.

Yeah I suppose if you know what you are doing its ok. I have seen a show where a chef cut a puffer up too fast for comfort and then told the guy eating it how it could kil him if he messed up. I like the taste of fish.. but no thanks on the puffers of death..

Eating puffer in my house would definitely be deadly. Not because of the poison. No, the owner with the gun would get you first (18 puffers and counting).:nutkick:

I have read a few reports already in my local newspapers of people dying after consuming puffers (which are locally called 'butete'). They aren't careful to prepare the fish.

I heard the "poison" gets you high.....Kind of like "poisonous" mushrooms....Also, I think only the Fugu has this reputation.

it's huge in japanese cuisine. the custom with it is that the chef eats a peice of the fish in front of you so you know he made the right cut and you wont be poisoned
