Hi everyone,

I have a HBRTG for about 2-3 months now, size is around 10 +/- inch

The only thing its eating is meal worms, has about 9 in the morning and 6 at night.

Ive tried mussels and prawns but he just spits it back out, ive been told to wait till he bigger then try to starve him top accept other food, is the arowana big enough now to try or is meal worms fine? I do throw loads of veg and plenty of carrots to feed the meal worms!

Thanks

try some pellets

imo varied diet is better, try to add superworms and market shrimps and if possible pellets

your going to have to starve it, and they can go a long time without food. Just offer it cut up shrimp without shell. If it is taking it in its mouth then your half way there already. Even if it spits it out leave the shrimp in the tank for an hour or so. My RTG often picks up shrimp after it has sunk to the bottom and i think it won't eat.
it won't be long before it eats.

Its on super worms now! Ive tried cut up prawns already, pellets ive also tried but same again spits it out! Thanks for comments!

its a good sign that it is at least swallowing the food. at 10" it would be worth it to try and get it on pellets as a staple food and feeding other things to compliment.

Update - tried feeding chopped up prawns today, he chewed it a few times then spit it out....im going to starve him for a day or 2 im pretty sure he will have it! Everytime i walk near the tank he thinks im feeding him and swims around so fast looking on the top surface!

Hi,

Update of my aro's diet - For the past 2 weeks i have been feeding my aro chopped up prawns, he manages about 6 pieces then he wont eat anymore, i think when he was eating superworms he manage to fit more in his stomach, i havernt fed them worm for 1 week as i dont want him to stop accepting the prawns, also with worms he eats twice a day and with prawns he only eats in the daytime at night time he ignores them.

Any advice??

Thanks
