I have fry! This is about day 2 of them being out of the eggs and now into the crevice mom and dad built. I don't quite understand the term "free swimming" I assume that means out of eggs? I understand what to feed them but I'm not sure when. They are out of the eggs and wiggling in the crevice. I read day three of free swimming is when to start feeding them. Should I feed them now? I'm worried they are hungry ?

Thanks a million!

So your at this stage.

The eggs have hatched and the parents have stashed them somewhere. The first three days after hatching they will stay in this pit and "eat" from a yoke sac that have. During this time the fins are becoming usable and they are learning how to swim.

You will know when they hit "free swimming" due to that pile of wiggles turning into some version of this

When they get to swimmer stage the parents will herd them around to graze on algea and microorganisms. This is the stage when you can feed them via newly hatched baby brine shrimp, crushed up pellets/flakes. I used Hikari "First bites" with good effect. I feed them 4 to 5 times a day.
