Ebay Submersible Pumps...any good?

I'm looking at this model for my 350g. Anyone have any experience with these pumps? I have a rio hf32 and it is strong but a little noisy.

Would use this as a return and to run a uv sterilizer.

Is your UV sterilizer large enough to be effective at 2600gph? Too high of a flow rate and the organisms in the water won't be exposed to the UV long enough to be affected by it.

Personally I stick to the name brand pumps with a good reputation. All of my ventures into cheap no name pumps have been failures and a waste of money. I have a quiet one pump that just sits there and runs... I never hear it or have to think about it.

Haha. The uv would be on a TEE with a valve so that it only ran 100-200gph. Anyone else used seen this pump in action?

I have to agree with oughtsix, cheap Chinese pumps are a waste of money. Quiet One, Mag-Drive, and Danner all make inexpensive pumps that will run for a long time.

got my 800 gph pump off ebay and it runs like a champ. good alternative if you doni have all the cash for an expensive pump

Maybe yes, maybe no.
This pump could give years of service, or not.
Stuff like this, you pay your money and take your chances.
My only concern would be noise.
Who cares if that pump pushing water to your waterfall is noisy, it`s out in your yard.
As to the quality of the "China" pumps, some are good..others not so much.
Don`t know for a fact, but would guess many of the more name brand pumps are made in...
China
I`ve had pretty good luck with China pumps, but haven`t tried all of them.

Danner pumps (Hy-Drive, Mag-Drive, Pondmaster) are made in the U.S.A.

Not sure about Quiet One, but they definitely could be made in China. There definitely are high-quality products made in China, but few would argue that they don't also manufacture some absolute garbage.

I have never bought a pump (or anything else) off ebay, but the cheap Harbor Freight pumps I've had were worthless - they are noisy and cheaply made. The cords tend to come loose and when they are shut off they often freeze up and have to be banged on to get them going again.

Of course you could get lucky. Or not...

If cheap is what u r looking for look for a used quiet one or mag drive on bay. My quiet one 9000 pumps the same gph but cost half of your posted auction price because it was used.
