Both parents are unrelated electric blue gene x gold gene. I've had them about three weeks and presto! Fry! So far so good, they're taking really good care of them. The fry just started free swimming today. I have a 10 gallon fry tank for them... the question is... how do I get the near microscopic things into a different tank? Would syphoning them into a bucket and dumping them in said tank injure them?

Wow,I kinda have the same thing going on.Got my electric blue gene x gold genes about a month ago.Got 1 young mated pair and 2 extra female.Have them and 2 ebjd's in a 90 gallon tank.Well the pair laid eggs on Wednesday,on a white pvc pipe I had in the tank.On Thursday I removed the female along with the eggs, and put them in a 20 gallon tank(was not an easy task).I took 20 gallons of water from the 90,along with 2 sponge filters that were in there, and put all in the 20 gallon tank.As of Friday morning the eggs are still there, not hatched yet.

Syphoning fry in a 100g tank is a PITA, just for future reference. But I did it, and all the fry are happily eating in a 10g tank. I'm not sure how people guestimate how many there actually are, but there are a freakin' lot of the little squirts.
Next time I may just steal them before they're free swimming though.
Haven't ventured into the BBS hatching myself yet, though I just got eggs in the mail today, but they seem to be pretty happy eating oyster eggs and instant baby brine shrimp out of a jar. Those are both expensive though. We'll see how BBS hatching goes for me. Heh.
