I do weekly water changes always. But that was with my male jd. I never tested nitrates daily, just did the weekly 25% wc. Now since I got a ebjd, wondering if I need to up the wc's.zerojquan85;3175800; said:never exactly remember it.. but its better to keep do good water change... once a week.. i'll get back to you on it once i test mine..

how big is your ebjdzerojquan85;3175810; said:I've had my EBJD for almost 5 months now.. been going on a roller coaster rid with him....
He was doing fine the 1st month... the next 3 months was a big issue.. He started getting some internal infection.. and before you know it.. he was getting white poop... and turning black and not eating.. It took me almost another 2 months to get him back to eating.... now he's eating normally.. still very very picky.. but at least he's fine...
But he hasn't grown much... only his fins have grown... to a lot longer..
So best thing to do is what change and always check your fish...
I'm not sure anyone can give you a number, but "as low as possible" comes to mind. I don't think my nitrates exceed 25 ppm, and water changes generally bring that down around 10 ppm.fishnoob;3175401; said:I got a 5" male jd and a 3" female ebjd in my 55gal.
