It's happening right now> I would like any help in the way of tips,as to what I can do in the next 12 to 18 hr. if some of the eggs turn white due to lack of fertilization?
thank you Chris...
I have heard that 2 EBJD's cannot breed because the eggs would be infertile. I have also heard that you have to breed an EBJD with a regular jack that carries that Blue gene but doesnot exhibit the charachteristic color.
the EBJD did a good job of it. The eggs are all over the red sandstone and only 3 are white. So dose that mean the others are fertilize? I put a divider up because the female was try to keep the male away from the eggs is that ok?
I also moved a air stone and filter closer to help the female with fanning. What dose it look like when the eggs have fungus ? Should I pick off the white eggs ? I was told that I should move the hold grope of eggs to a different tank and treat with Melafix ? any help or thoughts on this...Chris
Why are so many people eager to say what they've heard as if it is fact... so much misinformation gets spread that way...
Fertilized eggs are a translucent brown/pink... unfertilised eggs or otherwise dead eggs turn white (not translucent).
You can remove the eggs and care for them yourself. I've never taken this approach though.
The fish are usually pretty good at caring for the eggs. If not they learn quick...
I have made 3 different Blue x Blue pairs (all different fish). Two of the pairs produced fry, one did not. The two pairs that did produce fry produced 100% Blue fry... that all died from unexplainable causes within a few weeks time.
Both of those females had spawned with Standard and/or Gold Dempseys to produce healthy young... both males were spawned with Standard or Blue Gene Dempseys to produce healthy fry...
good luck with these, I had an ebjd pair spawn for me some years ago, the eggs were fertile and hatched but my experience was the same as nutcases, they just dropped off for no apparent reason after about 2 weeks.
