so no one get screwed up i am Nano Cichlids on aquaria central thus the reason it say nano linage

well i just bought 2 EBJD from RICK on All Things Dempsey, one is 4in the other is 2in only the smaller one is to young to sex but the 4in is a male. when they come in on Thursday I'm going to move female Jack Dempsey 1 & 3 to the left side of the breeding tank as they are my only females that are capable of breeding. the 2in EBJD will go one the right side for grow out with female Jack Dempsey 2. then when my work finally gets EBJD in ill buy one more to grow out. this way ill always have fresh blood to cross lines with.

for now it looks like this

(EBJD #1) 4in = Hollywood Lineage
(EBJD #2) 2in = Hollywood Lineage
(EBJD #3) 1.5in = LFS Lineage

(JD #1) 3in = Nano Cichlid Line
(JD #2) 2in = Wholesale Line
(JD #3) 2in = Wholesale Line

so if i cross (EBJD #1) x (JD #1) then i get 100% Blue Gene Nano Cichlid Lineage which will be called (Family #13) for short.

Then cross EBJD (#2 or #3) with Jack Dempsey (#2 or #3) to get 100% Blue Genes which I'm going to call Nano-Hollywood Lineage which will be called either (Family #23 & #32 or #22 & #33)

Then take one female from (EBJD #1) x (JD #1) aka "Family #13" spawn and place it with (EBJD #3) i then get

Blue Gene (Family #13) x (EBJD #3) = 50% EBJD & 50% Blue Gene from Nano Family 13 Lineage. Which will be called "EBJD #13 family"

If your still on the same page as me your a very smart person ;)

now for the other 2 EBJD

EBJD #1 will be crossed with Blue Gene from Family #23 or #32 which will give me

50% EBJD 50% Blue Gene from Nano-Hollywood Lineage aka (Family #23 or #32)

so ill have EBJD from Family numbers 13 & 23 and 32. but wait theres one more EBJD number 2! ill cross number 2 with any Blue genes from family #13 as i have a feeling they will be the healthiest Blue Genes.

so it will get me to Family #213 which is going to be called For Sale Stock. these are the EBJD i will be selling for pick up only... and to local fish stores.

depending on the strength of the other family's will determine if i sell any of them.

as you can see my family format with numbers (I.E #213) will show which EBJD and which JD were used to produce Nano Lineage.

just thought id share with anyone out there who truly cares about my project. you can also check my blog on this site!

Im doing the same thing, but have somewhat of a different way of doing things. I ordered 2 BGs from dempseydan and he is guaranteeing that one will be female and one male and from different lineage. I also I have 2 EBs that I got from a LFS, but im suspecting that these guys are related somehow so thier offspring, if any, will not be paired together. I will try to mate the EB x BG. If this is not sucessful, then Ill mate the 2 BGs and cull the ones that are not EB as I will not know if they are BG or standard. Keep us posted. Mine are still too small to spawn yet. Probably going to be another 2-3 months. Post some pics!

I am very interested in this. I have been searching relentlesly for quality EBJD's. I am skeptical of buying from different websites that have them because i do not know of hte lineage and thus no knowledge on the strength of the fish. Waat do you guys recomend i do to attain a few EBJD's. when you guys baught yours, did you have them shipped or were they pickup only???

check out this forum and you will see several high quality breeders.

There is a wealth of info over there on Ebjds. Also, Rapps is supposed to have some on the 14th of this month....I do not know about his quality or lineage on ebjd, but I know he has quality fish in general. Anyone else care to chime in if they have bought blues from rapps before?

I had mine shipped. Hopes this helps

Where in GA are you located? Once I get a spawn going (will be several months from now) and if you have some, perhaps we can swap fish so there is no inbreeding. That is if yours and mine are not from the same lineage.

Sounds like a descent plan.

i ordered from rapps and got a beautiful ebjd but it died not sure of what but it was healthy and better then any in a local fish store
