EBJD color turning to more of a normal...

My buddy has a EBJD and he was blue as all out doors and then he started getting dark and has now taken in the appearance of a normal heavy spangled male. Any answers on this?

They go through fazes... young very blue, at about 3 to 4 inches get darker then solid blue at like 5 to 6.

I've seen that with mine... But his had gone to a straight regular jack look.. He's around 6-1/2"

You got that right... It's in a tank with its pair.. So I told him do a 20% cool water change to see if it brings on spawning... As maybe he's ready and she needs to be stimulated??? So guess I'll wait for him to let me know what happened... Thanks

Any way you can get pictures? EBJD will get very dark when they are ready to spawn, maybe that's whats happened to your friend's EBJD?

I recently posted about this mine did the same thing and is around the same size. Started off as a normal Ebjd now looks like a dark regular jack with more spangling.

That's the same thing as you have shown..... did it ever go back to the EB colors?
