Ok I notice that one of my EBJD's had not being eating as much as usually. It was one of the more recent one's that I bought. It was maybe an inch, but anyways it died last night I think. I woke up this morning and the body was half eaten. I think once it died my pleco started eating on the body. Any Idea as to what it could have been sick from???:(

Blue Dempseys are well known to be prone to parasitic infection...

What were you doing to protect it from parasitic infection?

yeah most likely it was parasites, had you treated him for this when you got him? if not then you need to go ahead and re-treat your entire tank now because he more than likely passed it on to your other fish

I treated for ick at one point. I just did the water changes and all of that. What should I do???

Ick is a parasite. So most ick medicines are similarly effective on any aquatic parasite.

I personaly use UV lights to prevent parasites. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"

As far as i am concerned i find these guys hard keepers... your not alone.. so many are lost for some reason..sorry for your loss

EBJD are such a rip off, They sell locally here for $25-30 each. I have had 4 of them and the biggest I ever got one was about 4 or 5''. Those things just up and die if you look at them wrong. My ph is within range and I use uv lights for parasites. I won't waste my money on another EBJD.
