I'm wondering what some of the common deformities are in EBJDs?

I've read several EBJD threads and comments like this make me wonder how common deformities are, and if so, do the deformed ones tend to die easier/sooner than EBJDs without deformities?
… those guys both have very nice color… very nice fin shape… very nice head shape… appear to have properly proportioned eyes… all in all some darn good looking fish…
That was NC_Nutcase commenting on my EBJDs in my original EBJD thread.

The main reason I'm posting this is I'm curious if one of my EBJDs has a deformity or not. The one I'm curious about is actually the dominant of my 2 EBJDs (they're both still tiny, got them at 1" 3 weeks ago, and have noticed some slight growth in both fish). I don't know the technical terms for their different sets of fins, but it seems to be missing one of its fins on its underside (nearest the head/gills). I first noticed it about a week or so ago, so I'm not sure if it was nipped off or if it was just born like that. and if it was born like that, I'm wondering is this fairly common in EBJDs?

I don't have any pics of it yet (was treating the tank all last week with melafix/pimafix for an unrelated issue, so water has been cloudy). But I just did a small water change last night and added carbon to help remove the "meds", and water was much clearer this morning, so I'll try to get pics up tonight of what I'm talking about...

Any thoughts?

I had a batch of EBJD's growing. Almost all of them had no fin like yours. If they did, they were really small.

I just went to a LFS and they had about 15 EBJD's. ALL had long fins and a short body. You can see the main backbone being bent.

These are being inbred quite often. Its really hard to find a good healthy line. ALL EBJD's come from inbred lines or from the same 2-3 lines availble. Very little new JD line is infused due to genetics.

I gave up on breeding EBJD's because of the deformities.

The common deformities are beaknose and popeye. Other stuff crops up, but those are the main two. I haven't seen missing pelvic fins as a common deformity; I did have a fish with stunted pectoral fins, however.

I actually have a picture of a EBJD i found with very very clear deformity..

It has to do with skeletal structure... U can say he has no nose... (i know fish have gills) but that general area is gone... I've also seen some that have pop eyes... or are very very short body...

Anyways.. this one i found is still a good size 2" fish... I was thinking about getting it.. but i was on my lunch break.. so i couldn't really get it..

Here he is....

hmmmm didnt know that.. he does look like a strong fish.. despite the deformity.... then again.. i had my eye set on some pricy ones from a few months back....

I posted an update on my original EBJD thread, with a couple pics and videos (I was having a hard time getting a good picture of the missing/underdeveloped pelvic fin, so I posted the videos). Is this a "deformity?" Or possibly just nipped at/off? Will it grow back?

The EBJD I'm talking about is the dominant one, you can ID it by its deeper/darker blue color. The subdominant one is clearly paler...which I'm kind of concerned about, because they used to be the same coloration. But its still eating (though not as much as the dominant one).
