EBJD feeding issue

My EBJD won't come up for hikari gold pellets. It might be afraid of the larger oscar.

I believe it has pop eye because it eats the shrimp pellets that sink for the loaches.

WC is done every 3 days. Water levels are good.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Mine doesn't like to come up for anything that floats. I'd suggest some sinking pellets, rather it be Hikari, NLS, or any other brand out. Pics would help to know if it's popeye or not. Does the fish appear to have been injured at some point?

Shrimp pellets shouldnt cause popeye unless thats been his diet for a long period of time. I think thats what you meant by your statement, Eating shrimp isnt a sign of popeye...
With a big greedy fish like oscars you have to target feed. Give the oscar food first then drop small sinking pellets right on the JD. Hikari makes some good small sinking pellets.
Loaches shouldnt be on a shrimp pellet only diet either. Shrimp pellets are best for a treat snack like bloodworms or other frozen foods.

Thanks, I wasn't saying shrimp pellets was the issue, just that it is all that it is eatting since it doesn't come up for the hikari gold floating pellets. I will look into some hikari sinking pellets.

Mine also only eats sinking foods
