EBJD has stringy transparent white waste

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ya.. it happens... ususally due to bad water quality...

The only way to cure it.. is get internal infection medication pellet... they sell these in LFS. or Petsmart in US. . (it has a picture of a pacu on it) and i also recommend garlic guard to get your EBJD to eat it.. Garlic guard is basically garlic juice.. u can order on amazon.com... or i heard u can find it in supermarket.. what u want to do is soak the food (or medication) with it and feed it to your fish...

If you see your EBJD turning dark or white poop... it means he's dying from the parasite.. 90% of all small EBJDs will get it.. when it gets older.. it's better... but still very hard to maintain it..

Good luck... this is how i cured my 2.5" EBJD from it.. it now eats.. but still very picky on food.. :(

BTW.. are you in the US? or Australia? i see some of your ur MFK friends. ( i know them too) are from that area...

Treat the tank immediately and stop feeding anything!

Do a 25% water change and treat with either JPC or HEX-OUT

Follow the instructions. After the first full treatment ( 3 doses ) drop a tiny amount of bloodworms in. If they eat, try soaking the bloodworms in garlic and feeding a larger (but still not too much) amount.

If they do not eat the first test bloodworms, stop feeding again and retreat the tank.

Young Blue Dempseys are prone to parasitic illness... As they mature their resistance increases... Chances are your younger/smaller ones got it and it made it's way to the larger/older ones...

I use UV lights to protect against this. They are expensive, but so is replacing Blue Dempseys...

I've known MacFish for a quite a while (hi Gary) and can vouch he knows his Blue Dempseys. The method he is suggesting is the common approach. I personally do not have experience with it as UV lights have kept me out of this pinch.
