is it possible for them to breed if so whats the name of the mix? i have 2ebjd's with 2 jags and they get along great it seems.

It may be possible but as fragile as ebjd are and aggressive as a mating Managuese can be I wouldn't even try. Normal jack Dempsey have been crossed but to my knowledge not Ebjd. Ages, tank size and sex of the fish?

no idea but they are all the same size and the jags are maybe 3 months old, one is larger than the other so i assume one male and one female jag and the ebjd's i just got and they are about 1.5 inches which is the same as the larger jag the other jag is 1 inch. this is all eye balling

Once the Jags are between 5-7 inches is when they are best to sex. Once males hit around 8 inches and females around 6-7 is when I've found them to breed. They get along now because everyone is still young.I'd expect that to change once the Jags mature more

agree 100%
do you think it could work or no

Large male Ebjd and small female jag maybe but Idk about Ebjd fertility, aren't males typically sterile?

i have no idea, haha im just gonna wing it and leave them and if they fight ill put the ebjds in the 90 gallon for temp. till larger tank available

I had a similar thought. I purposely wanted to cross them because I thought it would look really cool. How ever after research I found if they do breed the off spring wont have that Electric blue because it is a recessive gene. You would have to breed two of the off spring to get the color or breed one back to the parents and that just requires a large endevour that I don't have the space for.

There is one on google image that look amazing but unfortunately it is photo shopped.

so what if you breed them then have one of the offspring mate with a ebjd? then the eb would be more of a strong gene right? but it would still have the jag stripe maybe? hmm sounds like a fun project.. :wall: jk
