Menifee, socal
I just got three EBJD's about 3" and two of them look like they are fighting and doing some sort of dance. They open there mouths and there gills and lock lips sometimes, but mostly they seam to slap there tails at each other. The third never does any of this. Two of my tinfoils do this to.

Can anyone tell me why?

they are just fighting to figure out who is the dominant one in the tank, just make sure to keep a close eye on them and that it doesn't get out of hand or that one gets super stressed or something, also if you just got them and got them from a lfs i would suggest going ahead and treating them with jungle parasite clear just to be on the safe side as most lfs ebjd have internal parasites and you want to treat it BEFORE it starts to affect them, GOOD LUCK

Thanks, they came from a forum member who breeds them so they should be fine I will keep a eye on them. Like you said I will probably pick some of the parasite clear when I go to the lfs just to be sure. They are in a 300g so there is plenty of room.

Don't just assume your fish have parasites because they are ebjd. Don't medicate unless you know or have a good idea about what you are dealing with. Treatmets can cause un needed stress.

Good luck with them at 3" and from a good breeder I'm sure your fish will be fine if you take good care of them.

Yes cichlids do this they need to set up a pecking order of who's king of the tank like Sarah said.

oh ok yeah if you got them from a breeder on here then they should be fine, its usually just the one from lfs because of the conditions they have been kept in/shipped in. Im sure your guys dont have anything then
