Hello, a few weeks ago i purchased an EBJD from my local fish store here in Cape town and recently i've noticed that he's only eating bloodworms, in place of the daphnia, brine shrimp, vibra bites I purchased especially for him. I was wondering if he's fine eating only that and also how i would go by switching up his diet so that he readily accepts the previously mentioned foods.
Any and all suggestions would be appreciated ,thank you!

I’d try fasting for a coupe of days and then offer the pellet or prepared food. Shouldn’t be too hard to wean off of the bloodworms.

Other option is mix the pellet or prepared food with the bloodworm juice.

Funny that you mention that, I recently got two jack Dempseys and they are not taking pellets either. It's been blood worms and flakes for me so far. Not sure if this is a thing with jacks.

I am fairly new to fish keeping not to mention with larger fish such as jacks so I might not have the experience to confirm this but i also believe they prefer the live and frozen foods over pellets

Sounds to me like your fish have simply become accustomed to certain textures and taste. Training tip of the day - don't feed for a few days, let the fish get hungry. Pre-soak the pellets in frozen blood worm juice, which will allow the pellets to soften up, which will increase overall palatability. The added smell from the BW should trigger a feed response in a healthy fish. Feed only once in the AM, while fish are most hungry. Rinse, and repeat, until the fish are eating what you decide to feed them, then slowly wean them off of the pre-soak until the food is 100% dry.

My fish eat anything & everything that I offer them. A hungry fish is a healthy fish.
