EBJD- personality

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Jack's personalities vary greatly, one will hide the entire day long while the other will swim openly and aggressively around the tank. EBJD seem to be on the peaceful, hiding side of the spectrum for the most part however, they are a bit less active and aggressive than the regular jacks, don't expect it to swim around curiously like an Oscar.

Compared to an Oscar? They're way boring. Compared to a wild caught Discus? They're outgoing. Just depends on what you compare to. My 2 were great with tankmates, not real outgoing but neither lived past 5".

you just have to try and get one thats being outgoing in the store, thats what i did and mine was only 1in and he was awesome, he was right up at the front of the tank anytime i came to feed them and he even ate his pellets from my hand one time, he was in a tank with some evil little festae fry a little smaller than him and he was king of the tank for sure, sadly he got stuck in a shell deco and killed himself so i dont know if this personality would have continued into adulthood but from my experience usually if they are already outgoing as babies they will continue to be so, so yeah alot of peoples ebjd may be more shy but there are really outgoing ones out there if you get lucky, i think it also helps to grow them out in a tank where they are the biggest so they can gain confidence

mine is outgoing as soon as i am in the room he wants food. he is funny.

of all the cichlids I own or have owned, I would say my EBJD ranks among the least outgoing . . . very shy, easily intimidated . . . but I've only got the one, and others will certainly be different
