I've had 3 ebjds in the past year all of them looked gorgeous. The first one was an impulse pick up from petco that was growing out in my 55 community till it got sick around the 4 in mark it was always a very skittish fish, probably came from a poor breeding stock. My next two were pick ups from a lfs 100 miles away a male and female i think, they likely have a better lineage. The male is around 4.5 the female 3. I picked them up with a juvi firemouth and texas.
After a week or two in the qt the little ebjd started getting the **** beat out of it by the firemouth and texas unable to fight back at all. So i moved her into an empty freshly cycled 55. After a few weeks in the grow out tank the bigger ebjd starte to get the **** beat out of it but the firemouth and texas, even tho he was twice their size he never fought back, i had to move him back with the little one. Even in their new tank they prefer to hid in the logs most of the time
I am sure my newer ebjds are hardier than my first one but they are still big softies who i doubt would survive with any other cichlids.
