I have a young EBJD about 1.25"

The fish has been acting very strange/weak the past couple days. It rests on bottom and usually seems to be gasping. Earlier today found it stuck to my overflow, gasping the same but still too weak to swim away. I have moved the fish to QT, but I don't expect very happy results.

The only outward symptom I can see is it is holding it's tail clamped tightly, like a fine line. The rest of the fins are fine, no signs of fungus or injury.

It does not appear to be eating, but I've got a batch of Brine shrimp that should be hatched tomorrow morning that I will try to feed with Epsom Salt to possibly help with a parasite?

Anyone familiar with these guys have any input, I'd greatly appreciate it!

I've never had one before, but I understand they are incredibly hard to keep stable until they get to around 3 inches. Many just die, even if given the pristine conditions they require.

Don't feel bad. EBJD are VERY weak when young, I lost one the very same way a few months ago. While his brother, who was kept in the exact same tank as the dead one their whole lives, is now 3" and doing great!

Yeah, it doesn't bother me too much cept that they (I had two, both gone) were what my wife wanted for mother's day.

I have seen one local shop that occasionally sells 3"ers for about 40 bucks, may have to go that route.
