Hi everyone, I was wondering if dwarf cichlids or angelfish would make suitable tankmates for my electric blue jack dempsey. He is only about an inch and a half long right now. I see my LFS's usually have them together with these two breeds and discus at the store... just wondering if it would still work when it gets full grown. I read about how mellow these EBJD's are, but just can't help to think when they could fit a dwarf in their mouth why they wouldn't eat them. Any input would be great. Thanks!

let me put it this way: it would work with the EBJD I have, which is a total wimp and get pushed around by every tankmate I put him with, even when they are half his size ...

but you never really know for any specific fish until you try it ...

Mine is pretty aggressive and more aggro than my Female Reg. JD of the same size.

I have never seen my ebjd start nor back down from a fight. If the angel fish decides to get pushy as they often do, it will get beat down.

I would try something like geophagus or a severum...

I've thought about angels with cichlids before because angels can get fairly aggressive, but I haven't done it yet. I keep thinking the cichlids will eventually tear up the angel.
