Hey Guys,

So i have recently setup a sa/ca tank with geos, ebjds, and two severums. they are in a 75 gal right now and all small so i know im fine for a while longer.

ANYWAYS. one of the small jds has recently been hiding a lot and last night i noticed white spots on its face. Thinking ICK but im not sure because i have noticed that before that some of the fish had clamped fins, some fins are broken and chewed up, also some fish not swimming much. Anyone have a guess on possible diseases?

temp 83
ph~~7
freshly changed water
nitrates, nitrites, and ammonia, are low.
Filter cleaned

SO i know my water is pretty clean, but im worried about both fin rot and or ICK.

thanks

Could very well be ich and fin rot...would need pics to fully determine. A possible cause could be you added too many fish at once. Another possible cause could be they brought in the disease(s) from wherever you bought them from. To avoid ich in the future I would suggest quarantining the fish you buy.

Hope they get better

Thanks, im turning the temps up to 85 treating with some copper salts and melafix. Going for a less aggressive approach, i think. Im not as familiar with the more aggressive cichlids as i am with community ones.
