I have a Juvenile EBJD and noticed earlier today he had thin white stringy poop that never detatched hours later. Is this a sign of a parasite??? If so, what is the best way to fight this?? I feed my fish frozen bloodworms 2 times a week, flakes daily, and i switch between algae wafers and shrimp pellets once in a while. Im afraid the bloodworms may have had parasites...

I woke up this morning and it has detached. He is swimming normally and eating normally. Does the white poop happen occationally without traces of parasites? My concern is, I dont want to medicate my tank for something he doesnt have (no hospital tank, so the whole tank would be dosed with the medicine) so is there anyway to figure out exactly what he has? Any more symptoms to keep an eye on?

Glad it could help I know it was for me. I forgot to write it before but stop feeding bloodworms all together. It's likely the cause of hex. I used to feed it regularly and kept having trouble with my fish getting hex. Once I stopped feeding it all together it stopped happening.

I agree! I actually never fed my fish bloodworms until i started this new tank of SA cichlids and I should have never done that. I will be throwing the remaining away and find a better and safer source of protein for them! What do you feed your fish?

I don't really keep cichlids anymore besides panic (my jd) but I feed nls large fish formula, hikari cichlid gold/cichlid staple mix, chopped tilapia market shrimp and nightcrawlers or trout worms.
