I'm planning a 125 gallon tank to be set up in the next couple months and was interested in stocking it with two severums, 6 geophagus sp. orange head, and an EBJD along with some tetras. Has anyone successfully kept an EBJD with these fish?

I realize that an EBJD would throw off the South American theme but that's not what I'm going for. I've always wanted to keep one and if it is compatible with the above fish I would like to give it a try.

Any opinions would help.

yeah it would be compatible since sevs arent that aggressive but they are pretty sensitive when little, so i would just make sure you get the most outgoing one at the store, the one that doesn't look terrified will be more outgoing in your tank as well, and i would get it and grow it out a bit before adding it with the other fish, or at least make sure it is bigger than the sevs when they are introduced (also just another tip, if getting him from a lfs then i would MAKE SURE TO QUARANTINE and treat for parasites in a smaller tank/tub so you don't have to buy parasite meds to treat the entire 125) GOOD LUCK

I have a Ebjd with a severum and a Geo brasiliensis not really much like the red heads you are talking about close enough. Severums make great tank mates for ebjd IMO.

It should work well as long as They all get along. Cichlids have a mind of thier you have to try it out and hope they all get along and they should. Make sure you get large tetras like Buenos Aires Tetra.

Has anyone successfully kept them with geos? I'm more worried about the aggression toward the geos than the sevs.

i have my male EBJD with a geophagus the EBJD is the boss of her.

I have both an adult male (7") and an adult female (6") in a 125 gal along with an adult breeding colony of around 25 Red Head Geos...

It's one of the more peaceful Cichlid tanks I've ever kept, despite being so heavily stocked...
