Ive got 3 EBJD's growing out in a 55 gallon. Got them when they were really little. Ended up with 2 males and a female. The two males, my largest and the smaller like to fight. and here a couple days ago I noticed the smaller one's lower jaw is stuck open. He can't feed very well and i'd really hate to lose him. Has anyone ever experinced this? If so were you able to get it back in place, or did it never heal? Im guessing it's not gonna fix :(.

My water parameters are fine. and I do 25 percent waterchanges every two weeks. Ive also added salt, raised the temp and i tried to very very gently pull the jaw foreword and let it slide back in place but it wouldnt stay closed.

Any info or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, and actually i went ahead and put him in my med tank, just in case lol. Ive never had experience with that, but he's not acting unusual.. Still active, and trying to feed but he can't keep most of it down, it just goes back out his gills.

With the duck lips? I heard they'll develop swelling and some bloating is that true?

If so, I dont think thats it... cuz he doesnt have either. But he is starting to lose weight :(. As I usually feed all my fish twice a day

I never had a bloating problem with duck lips. In the begining at the early stage of the sickness he acted normal like he wanted to eat went towards the food but didn't eat. so i looked closer and noticed his mouth was opened a little more than it should. Next day it was worse, then i new duck lips! had this happen to to other fish and it happened at the time they were courting. I think alot of stress brings it on. Dont know why. My fish couldn't have been any better health. Could be a bad mouth injury that you have just keep a close eye on him if it seems to get worse i wopuld treat. good luck.
