Picked up what I thought was a EBJD a few weeks ago. He was about 1/2 inch when I got him. dropped him in my half sand half planted tank and never saw him agian till yesterday he finnaly came out from within the thick. Now hes about a inch and a half and the got his colors. The front half of him is EBJD and rear half is Convict. Anyone else ever seen this combo?

pics would help, a lot of times young EBJD will have a good bit of gray/black in their coloration and it very well may be that which you're calling his convict half
Here is a few pics of him. Sorry its taken with cellphone. May not show well but in the light the front of him is clearly blue but the back end is same color as convict. I have both Covicts and JD in the tank with im so its easy for my to see the colors vs the full blooded ones.
idk who told u that has EBJD in it but it doesn't look like it has any in it to me, maybe tex/con? idk though somebody will chime in that knows more now that there's a pic
He was really paled up in those pictures since I dropped him in with my bigger fish just minutes before. But when hes is his normal colors the speckles fade out and the from has the blue blotchy pattern of a ebjd. And when I bought him he was in with a bunch of ebjd that had the same colors as his front end. Now his body shape is al convict.
