In my experience... Healthy Adult Blue Dempseys grow just as large as a typical Standard Dempsey (if you disagree I suggest you take it up with my 9.5" Blue Dempsey

)
In my experience
Blue Dempseys are prone to parasitic illnesses up until they reach sexual maturity (3.5, give or take). I combat this with UV lights, others do so with diet and/or medication. I do not use UV lights on my adult Blue Dempseys, and it is a complete myth that a fish raised with UV has no resistance later in life.
I have had several Blue x Blue pairs form while growing out a group of Juvis... Although I haven't tried very hard, I've had no luck keeping any of their fry alive.
I currently have a Blue x Blue (sibling) pair that have been together about half a year. They spawn once in a blue moon (twice in six months, that I know of) but are otherwise a very compatible pair. In my opinion, keeping Blue x Blue pairs should be promoted, as it makes for a beautiful centerpiece, you get to watch the breeding cycles (color, behavior, etc) but do not have hundreds of babies to deal with each month (as with Standard Dempseys). Naturally this pair will have little value to a breeder, but for a hobbyist, I can't imagine a better pair (IMO obviously).
