I have been wanting to get an EBJD. I have a 10 gallon tank with a ac50 and a tetra whisper mini, whisper dual air pump and a heater that keeps the water at 78. I have a needle fish in it right now but I was wondering if I could get a couple ebjd. Can I feed the EBJd rosies or will it eat frozen blood worms.

how big are the needle fish.. a ten gallon tank is to small

you need to do more research on EBJDs..

and once u do.. u'll know it doesnt eat rosy reds.. in fact.. it has a very limited range of diet...

ebjds will do fine in a 10 gallon.. usually they are small anyways.. but look into getting bigger tanks...

feed them pellets and dont feed them blood worms.. its high in protein and can cause internal parasite..

EBJD are very hard to keep. I have known lots of people who have tried a few times with no luck. No me i have had one since he was 2 inches and hes is now about 4 1/2. I have him in a 20 gallon by himself. We feed him a variety of food such as dry bloodworms, and hikari staple gold mini's. Make sure water changes are done regularly.

With the needle nose gar that tank is already over stocked. Upgrade before you consider getting a ebjd. I've lost 35 dollars buying the healthiest specimen and he acted normal when i got him back home. Then 3 weeks later he just died. He ate normally, params fine, he was by himself. But, just found him floating one morning.

The tank is much too small for even one ebjd for any length of time. They're also hard to keep alive in the best of conditions, and yours won't be. Live food is always risky in terms of disease unless you are raising your own feeders, and ebjds really need a varied diet. A 10g tank doesn't give you any real stocking options.

Like everyone else indicated, 10 gallon is just way too small for the ebjd. You for sure need to upgrade to a bigger tank which will be your first step for being successful at raising a ebjd.

I have 6 EB's and feed them nothing but pellets and flakes. Like mentioned, never bloodworms nor feeders. These fish are notorious for internal parasites if not taken care of. Water must be kept in pristine conditions as well. They also stress very easily. Danios and tiger barbs are great tankmates for these fish.

You're going to need a bigger tank. So please dont stuff an EB in a 10 gallon.
