Hmmm interesting.

Do they grow slower the jd's?

I find they're growth is about half of normal jds. So its pretty slow.

I've grown out quite a few Blue Dempseys... and I find their growth rates to vary considerably...

Likewise, I've grown out a large number of Standard Dempseys, and I find their growth rates to vary considerably...

I find the faster growing Blue Dempseys grow about just as fast as faster growing Standards...

I find that slower growing Blue Dempseys can grow slower than slower growing Blues...

I've had a couple Blues that do not seem to grow at all and after 6~9 months can still be no more than 1.5" long... I've never one that grows this slow survive to a year old...

I suspect due to excessive inbreeding, growth rate is slowed and maximum adult size is rediced... But keep in mind different "lines" have been inbred to different degrees and therefore have different levels of "inbreeding depression"...

I have a friend on another forum who has a young Blue Dempsey which has grown one inch in two months. .5" per month is a healthy growth rate for any Dempsey...

I've noticed my (8) EB's to grow in spurts. They grow rather quick from fry to 1.5'' and then slow down, creeping to the 3'' mark and then take off again till reaching 4.5-5'' and so far seem to suddenly stop growing.

Some BG's I have are very similair. I have 8 BG's all from the same spawn. They are around 4.5 months old and there sizes range from 1.5'' to 4.5''.
