Welcome to the club, I bought 3 last month and I got 1 left and he's not lookin' good either at this point. Damn crosswired genetics and inbreedingCheckout these EBJDs my lfs got in. I keep buying them they never make it to adulthood.

We've been through about 7 of them. They generally run $40 a piece here but the last few I got for super cheap. Can't get them to live past a couple of months. They start out great with eating and then slowly lose their appetite and pass away. Everybody else in the tank not missing a beat and growing. We have 3 electric blue texas to grow out. Fingers crossed they have more vigor then the EBJD.
inbreeding is notorious for causing heart defects in a lot of animals that typically starts when they are hitting "toddler" stages. We've discussed buying jack dempseys with the blue gene and raise their fry to see if would have better luck then we have had with the LFS stock.

Good One! I keep a big ol' bottle of it handy. WC fish fall under the same category, not just LFS-fishThey certainly look healthy enough. If you buy again, consider treating the tank with some Coppersafe. Every few years, I talk myself into buying stuff from a local fish store ... every single time, I get an infestation of Ick. Coppersafe (by Mardel) seems to do the trick every time.
