EBJDs need tankmates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
EBJDs are pretty delicate, especially at a smaller size. From my experience they don't handle stress well. Just keep him solo with possibly some bottomfeeders like a pictus cat or cories.

I agree with MM

Wait until the fish comes in before you get anything to add to the tank... let him settle in and get a feel for the Blue Dempsey... Then make decisions on tankmates...

In general, Blue Dempseys are pretty mellow fish. More aggressive Cichlids like Green Terrors will most likely stres them out. I suggest looking at Geos, Acaras, Firemouthes and other more mellow Cichlids as possible future tankmates...

Off topic but where in WV are you? I live ten miles north of Charleston and work at the capital complex.

Just some info I have mine with a Red Terror that is about half an inch smaller than my EBJD. The Demsey is prob a little over 2 inches now and he is agressive. They are good together.

A Red Terror is not a good tankmate for a Blue Dempsey... at 1.5" & 2" they have not developed their territorial natures, but as they mature you will see this for yourself. Best of luck.
