I bought this tank to prep for the big tank. Anyway, i think it has the wrong filter pad in it. But whne i went to lfs, they had various sizes with letter designations, but i have no idea what it should have, anyone help me out here??

there is about a 2" gap between the end of the pad and the end of the compartment. I looks to me like the water is just flowing over the pad, then it goes off the end and then into the compartment witht he bio wheel. seems like the pad should cover the whole thing, so the water goes through the pad. Am I wrong? I have never seen one of these built in filter lids before.

just get quilt filler/stuffing at wall mart and use that.

I should have said,

When i get the big tank up, I plan on cleaning and selling tank, so i want it so buyer will see its ready to go. dont want them asking why i did that.

My plan is to put new filter in it now, let it establish, then store pad and wheel in my sump, so I can help buyer get up and running quicker.

What model hood is it ? Mine says on the inside of the filtration compartment but you can match up the hood model to the size you need. I found they carry a huge variety of sizes at www.drfostersmith.com . I got an eclipse 1 and I love it.

i can not see anywhere where it says model. its just says eclipse on the front.

Does your filter cover the entire compartment?

notice how mine looks too short? is yours like that?
nope mine covers the whole area the one you got is a bit short. Is there any information on the back of the hood ? The part facing the wall. Mine has the model number there.
