Hi all.

I just bought a 300 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank and wanted to put plants in it. I could use silt from the creek bed but it would undoubtedly be contaminated and not good for the fish. I looked into aquaponics and only found inert media used in hydroponics. Then I read about three substrates that actually nourish the plants. Eco-complete, Flourite and laterite. Does anyone have any suggestions on which one to use and how to use it? I'm also interested in plants that will be not too tall, and look nice and benefit my goldfish and koi. Am I going to have to use gravel too to weight the plants down?

Thanks all
