Im using eco complete substrate for a new planted tank. it contains blackwater from the amazon or something like that. i want to get a small loach or something that will sift through the substrate. the plan was to make this my exodon tank. anything that may be tough enough to withstand exodons? i doubt there arent any but you never know if somebody found success with exodons and some sort of bottom dweller.

I haven't had exedons befor but you could try some of the platydoras catfish. They seem to have armor and spikes all over them. IMO it would be pretty hard for the exedons to get through that. Plus they only get about 6.5in and won't eat your exedons. Just provide hideing spots and they'll just come out at night and be pretty safe. Plus around here they usually only cost $5 and if it does get eaten it isn't to big of a loss.

You could also try malaysan trumpet snails....They loveto sift throough sand like substeates...I use the eco complete also, and it is a great plant sub!
