Friday morning and waiting for my ride so posting this unconventional post. I watched a documentary recently and it dawns on me that both bichirs and wolf fish are edible fishes in their respective regions . Fishermen catch and sell these as we buy code/ salmon/ trout :). Local ppl say that bichir are delicious to eat.

One guy went to orincos river and
Did a commentary about wolf fish. He was all hyped up that we are after some big wolf fishes but when they came out from water they were big but local guy dealt with that by holding it from Gill and even from mouth.

So I was just wondering if the monstrosity hype about these fished are only for aquarium trade ?

Don't think there's any lack of hype for these kind of fish in their environment. They are for sure at the top or close to the top of the food chain. Can see it in our tanks too. But I think we forget that outside of the US these fish and a whole bunch more are food. Cause those people eat to live and not live to eat. Just IMO.

I'd say there are certainly fish in the wild that you don't want to come across underwater, that can inflict serious damage on humans; but at the end of the day, all animals are at the mercy of humans, so maybe we are the monsters lol

This is a very interesting point you have raised.
Until three years ago I was unaware that horses and bulls are being castrated to make them docile. Sorry I know its gross. But I was shocked really shocked after watching it on teli. I can see the benefit to human but it was disturbing for me :o

Yeah I mean take the scariest animal you can think of, for me personally it's the great white shark.

If humanity decided to eradicated great white sharks, they could realistically make it extinct within a week quite truly. It's a scary concept, and obviously one that will hopefully never happen, but it just shows the massive imbalance in nature; thrown up by our (accidental?) evolution.

I think we can be wiped out just as quickly. Nature kind of has a way of always winning. The dino's had there time and they were wiped out. Some bacterial or virus ot natural disaster could wipe us out one day.

Cool topic

Yup, but as it stands; there are no animals that can threaten humanity whatsoever.

Viruses have constantly threatened us. There was fear that the spanish flu would have actually wiped out our species.

Tought your comment was interesting about our accidental evolution. One of my buddies was talking about something similar the other day. What were you getting at ?
