I've been eyeing a flagtail at my lfs. With the research I've done, it seems Flags are bad about sucking the slime off of rays and cats. Nothing was mentioned about eels, but I'm guessing it would be the same thing. Anyone here have that combination or know if it would be a problem? Eel is a fire eel about 10" in a 120 with plenty of cover. Flag is about 4". Thanks.

Never owned a flag... but I imagine a eel is fast enough and agile enough to evade anything but the most persistant flag. I've also heard some flags will.. and others won't.. I'de say it is worth a try but be wary. As long a sthe eel is settle din and eating well in it's current tank I'de say you have better chances.. I'de mkae sure the flag was well fed and never had a reason to try and eat it's tankmates persae. BUt I'm not 100%

i cant say i have owned a flag. but if u have the your eel currentley does he spend alot of time out and about ? if not then i would gab him if he does then i would add more pvc pipe or hiding spots. but eather way i would do it. lets face it, if the eel gets mad heel just hide under the substrate anyway.

I've seen flagtails and eels kept together a lot on here... never done it myself, since I have never seen one for sale before in my area.

Should be fine aslong as the flagtail gets fed well
