Hey guys, i have a 40 gal breeder tank and I wanted to get a new fish. I'm not sure which one though. I was thinking either a Peacock eel or an African brown knife fish. What do you guys think? Any experience?

Yea, ive read that they mostly hide. If I go bare bottom, would that stress the eel? Since it wont be able to bury itself.

Yes! Thats a good way to get your eel in the filter or on the floor. Peacock eels and most of the smaller spiney eels do like to dig.

Ok. Have you ever owned one? If so, was it hard to feed?

Yes ive owned them. They arent hard to feed, they prefer to eat at night. Frozen bloodworms are a favorite.

If you go bare bottom with the eel, just give it a small piece of pvc pipe to hide in. Shouldn't stress it out, plus you always know where to look for it.

Great idea. I might try that. Thank you. Any experience with Brown knife fish?

I've kept both and I would definitely recommend the knife fish. Mine is very friendly and even swims up to the top for food. I rarely saw my peacock eel and he disappeared after a few months.
