The peacock eel I vanished last time I saw it was tuseday no sign of it I cheked the floor inside the lid I even did a amonia test as I thought it might have died under the substrate . It just appeared this afternon and then disapeared again at lesat it is alive .I was worried that if it had died and I was unable to find it and the water could be contanimated and then loose more fish . The peacock eel seems more noturnal then the half banded eel I have as that omes out even when the lights are on

It must be burrowing in the substrate.

I'd agree, eels can be very tricky to find. If you are worried about him I would suggest turning the lights off, feeding him and watching for awhile to see if he does come out at night.

yes once the aquarium lights go out I would see it swimming around but from tuesday until today it had disappeared even with aquarium lights off I tend to put live blood worms in every other day. It could be still be suffering from being shipped without a heat pack I am surprised it is still alive as it much more timid than my half banded eel which took about 3 weeks to eat while the lights are .Have had the peacock eel for 4 weeks

the peacock eel seems more timid as of now it is at the back of the tank so is quite visible. I did see its head sticking ou of the sand once whih did amuse my daughter

one time I walked by my tank and only the head of my smaller fire eel was sticking out of the sand and it looked like it was his severed head and in the tube right next to his head was my larger fire eel who was still getting used to the idea of a 2nd eel in the tank so was chasing the smaller one a lot(not anymore) well the big one saw me staring and followed my eyes and saw the smaller one and ran him off
