European Eelpout, aka Livebearer Eelpout (Zoarces viviparous)
Ocean Eelpout, aka Pout, aka Muttonfish (Zoarces americanus)
Arctic Eelpout (Lycoides reticulates)
…plus about 40 other species called Eelpout.

Oh so you mean the saltwater species. I was talking about lota lota, that also occur in Europe...

If you know a pout filled lake I am all ears. If you get a lot I would be willing to make the drive if you know the spots. A buddy and I have been looking for a few years. Aside from running up to poutfest, been thinking about it.

I know few lakes that hold eelpouts in Brainerd and also in Bemidji too. But Leech Lake and Lake Sylvan is your safest bet if you are go after the adults. I found a good number of YOY eelpouts in Gull Lake and Crow Wing River.

Never fished gull. My buddy has a cabin on long lake just outside marryfield. My just have to go to leech or sylvan. I don't like leech because of its size. Never heard of the other. If it is smaller I'll be making the trip.
