I have 2x Motoro rays, and Im considering getting an eel as a pet for their tank as well. Anyone have any experience on how the 2 play together? Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but my googling has yielded minimal useful knowledge on the fact. If it were a risk for the eel, Im willing to accept that, if its a risk to the Ray, then I cannot afford to chance it. Based on my location, Im sure you can imagine how hard it is to get Stingrays compared to a FW eel.

Thanks in advance.

how big are the rays?
2x motoros

male = 6ish inches
female 5ish inches

a few other fishies, nothing aggressive, silver dollars, angelfish, and a big bala shark, nothing I can imagine screwing with him...

Im willing to hunt for a bigger eel if I need to keep the growth and size of the ray and eel proportionate, my major concern is and always will be if the eel gets ballsy enough to try and **** with a ray.

i don't think it will mess with your rays. just make sure the eel to a good size so the rays don't eat him.
make sure the eel is bigger than the rays.

Im rocking a peacock with him, he was the biggest at the LFS, and seems to have realized hes best to hideout in the cutout of an arena I have in my tank. I suspect he should be alright with how quickly he realized to shy away from the rays, and he has a hiding spot that will accommodate him for quite some time. He swam around for a bit but immediately found and has stuck to his "turf". Im using a turkey baster to squirt blood worms mixed with tankwater into his spot to make sure he doesnt have to leave.

so far so good, but i did have a bit of a scare when he was hiding between the back of the filter intake and the glass, crafty little bugger. hes been smart at avoiding my ray, and he eats like a champ. looking forward to him blowing up in size.

Hes a hungry little guy, always all over the bloodworms I feed him, and hes growing/doing great!

As long as he's big enough to not get eaten, and you make sure your tank is sealed shut like YOUR life depended upon it, I would think they would do just fine. Make sure you feed something other than bloodworms, or he will have a very slow growth rate if not die. I encourage you to feed red wriggler worms (eventually larger earthworms) and krill (eventually cocktail shrimp). I'm sure your rays wouldn't mind snagging a few of these either.
