I know with cichlids and most other freshwater fish salt is beneficial, what about with eels and cats? because of there skin is this dangerous to add or should it be added? Tiretrack eel and sun catfish

it can be added with sun catfish they like a little salt tiretrack eels can tolorate salt too but some catfish can't be kept in water with salt for a long time or it will start to shut down the digestive track mostly the end of it for those fish you could add around 1Tbs per 5 gallons or more to help them if there sick or injured

salt is a good way to help fish heal and most fish can handle salt for a while but not for ever

I also only add salt when fish are sick or injured.

I think its best to keep them to whatever water they require(fresh, salt, brackish).

For tank maintainance I assume you are talking a level of 1 tbsp/5 gallon ratio. Spiny eels and almost all cats accept this level quite well.

No need to do salt if the aquarium is mature, but they will still probably enjoy some. Too much salt too fast can burn the cats. Add it to a 5 gallon bucket to premix it. Then add 5 gallons every couple hours. You will get a water change and a little flavor for the fish.

If you want, add a little pepper and raise the temp to 250 for about 8 hours then you have some catfish stew.
